How far is Jawai from Jodhpur
About 150 km, 3 hours by car via Pali. The road is good highway for most of the way, then smaller rural roads into the granite hills. The final stretch runs towards Sumerpur and the hills around Bera, past villages and fields. We leave Jodhpur by about 11 am, or after a morning at Mehrangarh, to reach the camp for lunch and the afternoon leopard drive.
Can I do Jawai as a day trip from Jodhpur
It is possible but not worth it. Leopard sightings need several drives at dawn and dusk. Stay at least two, ideally three nights. The camp is about 3 hours from Jodhpur, so a day trip means 6 hours in the car for a single drive. We leave Jodhpur by about 11 am, arrive for lunch and the afternoon drive, then use the following dawns and dusks to search the granite hills.
Is there a train to Jawai from Jodhpur
A few trains stop at Jawai Bandh or Falna on the line towards Ahmedabad. Services are limited, so most guests drive. The camp can arrange a station pick-up. By road, Jawai is about 150 km and 3 hours from Jodhpur via Pali, and the car gives you the freedom to leave after a morning at Mehrangarh.
