Taj Ganges
Taj Ganges stands in the same estate as Taj Nadesar Palace, in the cantonment area away from the old city. It is a full-service hotel with many rooms, several restaurants, a pool set in lawns and access to the palace gardens. It is a dependable, comfortable base with space to rest between busy outings.
We use Taj Ganges for families and for travellers who prefer a larger hotel with more facilities. It is well placed for Sarnath and the airport, and the hotel arranges cars and guides to the ghats for boat rides and the aarti. Rooms facing the gardens are the quietest.

What is the difference between Taj Ganges and Taj Nadesar Palace?
Both stand in the same Nadesar estate. Taj Nadesar Palace is a small former royal residence with a handful of suites and great privacy. Taj Ganges is a larger, full-service hotel with more rooms, restaurants and a big pool, better suited to families and groups.
How far is Taj Ganges from the airport?
Varanasi airport at Babatpur is about 22 to 25 km from the cantonment, roughly 45 minutes to an hour by car depending on traffic. Taj Ganges is on the airport side of the city, which makes early departures easier than from the ghats.
Is Taj Ganges good for families?
Yes. It has family rooms, a large pool, gardens and restaurants that handle a wide range of tastes, and it is quieter than the ghats. Children often enjoy the space after a busy morning on the river. Sarnath is about 30 minutes away.
