Taj Mahal Lucknow stands in Gomti Nagar, the newer part of the city across the Gomti river, in a building that draws on Lucknow's nawabi architecture with domes and arches. Rooms are large and well furnished, and the hotel has a pool, a spa and several restaurants, including one focused on Awadhi food.

We use it as our base for Lucknow's food walks and old-city visits, and as a comfortable stop before and after Dudhwa National Park. The hotel's Awadhi dinners, with kebabs, kormas and biryani, make a fine counterpoint to the street kitchens of Chowk. It is about 30 to 45 minutes from the airport.

Where is Taj Mahal Lucknow located?

In Gomti Nagar, the newer residential and business area east of the Gomti river. It is about 20 to 30 minutes by car from the Bara Imambara and the old city, and 30 to 45 minutes from the airport. The location is quiet and away from old-city traffic.

Does Taj Mahal Lucknow serve Awadhi food?

Yes. The hotel's restaurants serve Awadhi dishes such as galouti kebabs, kormas, biryani and sheermal, alongside international food. Many guests enjoy a long Awadhi dinner at the hotel after an old-city food walk. Book ahead on weekends. Vegetarian Awadhi dishes are also on the menu.

Is Taj Mahal Lucknow a good base for Dudhwa?

Yes. Dudhwa National Park is about 235 km and 5 hours north of Lucknow, and lodging at the park is simple. A night at Taj Mahal Lucknow before and after the safari adds comfort to the journey and breaks the drive.
