Is August a good time to visit Ladakh?
Still high season and warm. Zanskar is at its best, black-necked cranes breed at Hanle and the barley begins to turn gold late in the month. Occasional heavy rain, rare in Ladakh but possible, can cause landslides. Leh remains busy, and the roads to the lakes are open. The apricot harvest continues in the lower valleys, and days in Leh are warm and long. Book rooms early for the busiest weeks.
