Ways to make the journey
5 h
The road descends from Gangtok to the Teesta at Singtam, climbs to Ravangla on a ridge with views of the Kanchenjunga range, and continues to Legship, Geyzing and up to Pelling. We stop at Ravangla's Buddha Park and for lunch, and arrive in time for evening light on the mountains.
5–6 h
Shared jeeps run between Gangtok and Pelling, but they are crowded and stop frequently. For comfort and flexibility, a private car with a driver is far better on these roads.
