Brunton Boatyard

A heritage hotel on the Fort Kochi waterfront, rebuilt on the site of a Victorian boatyard, where every room faces the harbour channel and ships pass close enough to read their names. Run by CGH Earth, it is our first choice in Kochi.

Brunton Boatyard stands at the mouth of Kochi harbour, a short walk from the Chinese fishing nets and St. Francis Church. The building was rebuilt in the style of the old colonial godowns and boatyard that stood here, with high ceilings, wooden floors, four-poster beds and long verandahs, and the rooms all look out over the water towards Vypeen Island and the passing ships.

CGH Earth runs the hotel in its usual way: careful local cooking, including Anglo-Indian, Syrian Christian and Kochi Jewish dishes, a calm courtyard with old rain trees, a pool and staff who know the old town well. Its position lets you walk out at dawn to the fishing nets and return for breakfast on the harbour. Rooms on the upper floor have the widest views.

Why we book it

  1. Every room faces the harbour channel
  2. Walk to the fishing nets, church and cafes
  3. Strong Kerala, Anglo-Indian and Jewish home-style cooking
