Samode Palace

Samode began as a fort and grew into a palace through the 18th and 19th centuries, when the rulers of Samode served as ministers at the Jaipur court. The Durbar Hall and the Sheesh Mahal are covered in painted and mirrored work that rewards a slow look in the late afternoon light. The palace still belongs to the family, and the hotel is run with that sense of ownership.
We use Samode as a first or last night on a Jaipur journey, or as a stop on the drive to Shekhawati. Rooms vary a great deal in size and style, so we book suites where possible. Climb the steps to the small fort above the palace before sunset, then eat on the terraces. Samode Bagh, a garden camp belonging to the same family, is a short drive away.
Why we book it
- Some of the best painted interiors in Rajasthan
- Village setting an hour from Jaipur
- Natural first stop on the way to Shekhawati
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How far is Samode Palace from Jaipur
About 42 km northwest of central Jaipur, usually 1–1.25 hours by car. The road leaves the city through the northern suburbs and climbs gently into the Aravalli hills. Many visitors come for lunch and the interiors as a half-day trip, but staying one night lets you see the palace at sunset and after the day visitors leave.
Can you visit Samode Palace without staying
Day visits have generally been possible with a meal booking or an entry fee, but this varies with occupancy and private events. Check current status before you travel. We arrange lunch for guests driving to Shekhawati so they can see the Durbar Hall and Sheesh Mahal on the way.
Is one night enough at Samode
One night is enough for most travellers: arrive after lunch, see the interiors in the afternoon light, climb to the fort for sunset and leave after breakfast. Two nights suit those who want to rest between Jaipur and the drive to Shekhawati or who want time at Samode Bagh and the village.
