Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Is October a good time to visit Nepal?
October is Nepal's best and busiest month. The air is clean after the monsoon, mountain views are at their sharpest, and the trails to Namche and Poon Hill are full of walkers. Dashain, the biggest festival of the year, usually falls in October, followed closely by Tihar, the festival of lights. Offices close and roads fill around Dashain, so we plan driving days carefully. Good rooms sell out early.
What is the weather like in Nepal in October?
Kathmandu 13–27 °C, dry, very clear. Conditions differ by altitude and coast, so check the forecast for each stop a week before you travel.
Where should we go in Nepal in October?
We suggest Everest Region (Khumbu), Pokhara, Annapurna Foothills. Book helicopter tours and Lukla flights at least three months ahead for October.
