Coconut Lagoon

Arrival at Coconut Lagoon is by boat across a short stretch of water, which sets the tone. The resort's buildings are traditional Kerala tharavad houses, some more than a century old, which were taken apart elsewhere in the state and reassembled here among coconut palms and canals. Heritage bungalows have open-air bathrooms, and pool villas offer more privacy.
The grounds include a butterfly garden, paddy fields, and a small herd of the rare native Vechur cattle. An Ayurveda centre offers treatments and short programmes. The restaurant serves Kerala food, including karimeen from the lake, and evenings often include traditional music or dance. Coconut Lagoon is also an easy place to start a private houseboat.
Why we book it

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How do you reach Coconut Lagoon?
By a short boat transfer from a jetty near the road in Kumarakom, about 10 minutes across the water. Cochin International Airport is about 85 km away, roughly 2.5 hours by car to the jetty. Luggage travels with you on the boat.
Which rooms are best at Coconut Lagoon?
Pool villas give the most privacy, with private plunge pools and garden space, and suit honeymooners. Heritage bungalows, in restored traditional houses with open-air bathrooms, have the most character. Families can take adjoining rooms. We match the room to your needs.
Can we start a houseboat from Coconut Lagoon?
Yes. Private houseboats can collect guests from the Coconut Lagoon jetty or a jetty nearby, and CGH Earth runs its own houseboats, Spice Coast Cruises. A common plan is two nights at Coconut Lagoon and one night on a houseboat.
