SUJÁN Jawai

The camp sits on scrubland between granite outcrops, a short drive from the Jawai Bandh reservoir. Leopards live in caves on the rocks and move freely between villages, temples and grazing land, which makes Jawai unlike a national park: there are no gates, no zones and no shared queues of vehicles. Drives go out at dawn and late afternoon with the camp's own naturalists.
Tents are large, with canvas walls, private decks and modern bathrooms, and meals are served around the camp or out in the landscape. We suggest three nights to give the leopards enough chances, and to include a morning with Rabari herders and an evening by the reservoir. The camp operates seasonally, so check current status before you travel.
Why we book it
- Leopard drives on open land, not inside a park
- Naturalist guiding and a small, quiet camp
- Easy to pair with Jodhpur and Udaipur
Questions travellers ask
Good to know
How likely am I to see a leopard at Jawai
With three nights and four to six drives, most guests see leopards, often more than once, because the cats live on fixed granite outcrops near villages. Sightings are never guaranteed, and visibility depends on season and luck. Winter mornings and late afternoons in October to March tend to be the most productive.
How do you reach SUJÁN Jawai
The camp is around 150 km from Jodhpur (about 3 h by road) and about 145 km from Udaipur (about 3 h). Most guests drive in between the two cities. Jawai Bandh railway station is nearby on the Delhi–Ahmedabad line, and the camp can arrange a pick-up for train arrivals.
What is included at SUJÁN Jawai
Stays are generally full board with guided drives and selected activities included, but what is covered can change by season. Check current status before you travel. We confirm inclusions, drinks policy and any extra excursions when we book, so there are no surprises at checkout.
