The Leela Kovalam, a Raviz Hotel

The Leela Kovalam spreads across a headland above Kovalam's crescent beaches, with buildings terraced down the cliff so that most rooms face the sea. Its grounds include the old royal seaside retreat built for the Travancore family in the early 20th century. An infinity pool sits at the cliff edge, and steps lead down to a beach area reserved for guests.
The resort has several restaurants, a spa and an Ayurveda centre, and its size makes it suitable for families as well as couples. Thiruvananthapuram airport is about 15 km away, making it a convenient first or last stop. We use it for beach stays and as a base for Thiruvananthapuram's temples and museums and for day trips to Varkala.

Questions travellers ask
Good to know
Is The Leela Kovalam on the beach?
It sits on a clifftop headland above Hawa Beach, with steps and paths leading down to a beach area for guests. Most rooms and the infinity pool face the sea. The busier Lighthouse Beach strip is a short walk away.
Does The Leela Kovalam offer Ayurveda?
Yes, the resort has an Ayurveda centre offering consultations and treatments, suitable for short programmes. For a full panchakarma of 14 to 21 days, we recommend a dedicated Ayurveda retreat such as Niraamaya Retreats Surya Samudra or Somatheeram nearby. Book a consultation on arrival.
How far is The Leela Kovalam from the airport?
About 15 km from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport, roughly 30 minutes by car. Thiruvananthapuram city centre, with the Padmanabhaswamy temple and museums, is about 16 km away. This makes it a convenient first night after a long flight, or a last night before an early departure, with no long transfer at either end.
